Cape Girardeau police hold Coffee with a Cop

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Cape Girardeau Police officers met citizens for Coffee with a Cop Thursday morning.

The event was held a the Hardee’s at 2115 William Street from 7-9 .m. on Feb. 2.

Coffee with a Cop is a chance for people to get to know the people charged with keeping the community safe.

There are no agenda or speeches. It is a chance for people to ask questions, voice concerns and get to know the officers in their neighborhood.

Bobby Newton, with the Cape Girardeau Police Department says, “It’s important for us to be transparent with the community, any questions or concerns that they may have in regard to the police department or what we’re doing, we can answer any questions they may have or have an open dialogue with them.”

Officer Newton says that the turnout for the event was above what they hoped for and enjoyed speaking with the local citizens.
