Carbondale to host events for National Crime Victims’ Rights Week

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — City of Carbondale Illinois has received grant funding to support a regional awareness campaign during National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, April 19–25.
Officials said the funding comes through the National Association of VOCA Assistance Administrators with support from the Office for Victims of Crime.
The city is partnering with the Carbondale Public Library and the Survivor Empowerment Center to promote this year’s theme, “Listen. Act. Advocate. Protect Victims, Serve Communities.”
A kickoff event is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. April 19 at the downtown pavilion, featuring information on local services, refreshments and entertainment. A “Know Your Rights” presentation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. April 23 at the Carbondale Public Library.
Officials said the events are free and open to the public and aim to raise awareness of resources available to crime victims.
