Gas leak closes Fredericktown intersection after contractor strikes main

FREDERICKTOWN, Mo., (KBSI) — An intersection in Fredericktown remains closed while crews repair a gas main that was struck by a utility contractor.
The Fredericktown Fire Department said the leak happened near the intersection of Kingsbury Boulevard and Garland Street while a contractor was performing directional boring.
Spire crews isolated the damaged gas line, and officials said evacuations of nearby homes were not necessary.
Fire crews have cleared the scene, but the intersection will remain closed to traffic while repairs continue.
The Fredericktown Police Department, Madison County 911 and Madison County Sheriff’s Department also assisted at the scene.
