Going green for Mental Health Awareness Month

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Green is an international symbol of mental health awareness.
The Community Counseling Center Foundation encourages people to wear green every Wednesday in May to raise awareness, educate and help reduce the stigma that surrounds mental health.
The Community Counseling Center Foundation in partnership with Cotner Electric, the Missouri Department of Transportation and the City of Cape Girardeau also lit up the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge in green for Mental Health Awareness Month in May.
The bridge connects Cape Girardeau, Mo. to East Cape, Illinois over the Mississippi River.
