Gov. Beshear announces $105 million in FEMA reimbursements for Kentucky hospitals, emergency management

FRANKFORT, Ky. (KBSI) — Andy Beshear announced Friday that Kentucky has secured more than $105 million in FEMA disaster reimbursement funds for six hospitals and Kentucky Emergency Management tied to expenses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the governor’s office, the funding reimburses costs incurred between January 2020 and May 11, 2023, under FEMA’s Kentucky COVID-19 Pandemic Major Disaster declaration. The money covers expenses including patient care, personal protective equipment, medical support, emergency protective measures and medications.

Hospitals receiving reimbursement funds include:

AdventHealth Manchester — $1.6 million
Appalachian Regional Healthcare — $22.9 million
Baptist Health — $17.2 million
Pikeville Medical Center — $1.4 million
T.J. Samson Community Hospital — $6.9 million
UofL Health — $13.3 million

Kentucky Emergency Management will receive more than $41.8 million.

Beshear said the reimbursements come as hospitals continue facing financial pressures and healthcare challenges following the pandemic.
