Kentucky State Police to conduct traffic safety checkpoints across western Kentucky
FOX23 News at 9 p.m
MAYFIELD, Ky. (KBSI) — The Kentucky State Police Post 1 will conduct traffic safety checkpoints throughout western Kentucky as part of an effort to improve roadway safety and enforce motor vehicle laws.
Troopers will check motorists for compliance with Kentucky traffic laws, including impaired driving, vehicle registration, insurance and driver’s license requirements.
The checkpoints are intended to serve as a visible public safety measure and deter violations of Kentucky law, according to the agency. Troopers will also address any other public safety issues encountered during the checkpoints.
Drivers are encouraged to have their driver’s license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance readily available. State police said motorists who have the required documents and are not in violation of the law can expect delays of no more than 30 seconds to a few minutes, depending on traffic.
The checkpoints may be conducted in Ballard, Calloway, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Livingston, Lyon, McCracken, Marshall and Trigg counties.
Current checkpoint locations are available on the Kentucky State Police Post 1 website.
