Law enforcement investigating series of drive-by-shootings in Williamson, Jackson counties

(KBSI) – Several agencies are investigating a series of drive-by-shootings in Williamson and Jackson counties early Christmas Eve morning.

They occurred in Marion, Herrin and Carbondale, Illinois, according to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.

Police believe they may have been committed by the same person or people.

No injuries have been reported.

“These appear to be targeted acts and while the public should remain vigilant there is not a cause for alarm,” said Williamson County Sheriff Jeff Diederich.

The Herrin, Marion, and Carbondale police departments are investigating with the support of the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, Williamson County State’s Attorney’s Office, Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office, and the Williamson County Major Case Squad.
