(KBSI) – Several locations have been designated as warming centers during the extreme cold temperature later this week. If you know of a warming center not listed, email news@kbsi23.com with the details.

Missouri

Shawnee Park Center

Shawnee will open as a warming center site at 8 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23.  Due to a generator issue, the Osage Centre is not open.

The FEMA building at the Scott City school is open beginning 8 p.m. Dec. 22 until 5 p.m. Dec. 25 as a warming center.

Beginning Thursday, Dec 22, at 6 p.m., the upstairs emergency overflow section of the Carbondale Warming Center will be open 24 hours. This is for individuals and families needing a warm and safe space as temperatures drop dangerously low.

The City of Harrisburg opened the Pruett building on East Church Street Thursday morning for a warming center. It will remain open until Saturday, December 24 at 9 a.m. People using the warming center may enter the building through the front door.

JCity Center (504 E. Broadway, Johnston City) is available as a warming center for people who are homeless or have inadequate shelter through the weekend. The building will be staffed during regular business hours as weather conditions permit. After hours or after staff have left, please call 618-952-1272 for access to the building and volunteer assistance.. Food (inc. a hot lunch), shower, laundry available. A limited number of pillows, blankets, and clothing may be provided if needed.

The warming center will be open from Thursday evening through Monday morning. The rear entrance of the courthouse will be open to enable anyone who needs to utilize the warming center to have access.

There will be a Marion Police officer or a Crittenden County deputy on hand nearby to provide security and assistance.
