Mt. Vernon man faces attempted murder, other charges after failed escape attempt
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – A Mt. Vernon man faces first degree attempted murder and other charges after a failed escape attempt at the Jefferson County Courthouse in October of 2021.
Frederick O. Goss, 56, of Mt. Vernon, Ill. faces one count of attempted first degree murder (Class X felony), one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm (Class X felony), and one count of disarming a correctional institution employee (Class 1 felony).
Goss remains in custody after his recent felony conviction at jury trial involving an investigation conducted by the Mt. Vernon Police Department.
