CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) – Southeast Missouri State University has hired Jessie Gartman as an assistant volleyball coach, the university announced Monday.

Gartman joins the Redhawks after serving as a head coach and board member with Cape Girardeau’s Pursuit Volleyball Club, where she coached multiple national-level teams and managed the club’s high school program.

Her coaching responsibilities included practice planning, film evaluation, player development, recruiting, strength and mobility training and private instruction. She also organized summer camps, managed team budgets and schedules, oversaw the club’s website and social media, and assisted with fundraising efforts.

“I am thrilled to add someone with Jessie’s passion for the game and local connections to our coaching staff,” SEMO head coach Julie Yankus said in a statement. “Jessie has helped drive the popularity of volleyball in the area through all her hard work at Pursuit Volleyball Club. She is highly respected within the club community, and I know her experience and knowledge will translate to the college level seamlessly.”

Before joining Pursuit Volleyball Club, Gartman worked as a national volleyball scout for Cape Girardeau-based National Scouting Report from 2024 to 2026.

Gartman began her collegiate playing career at Columbia College in 2018 before transferring to Southeast Missouri State, where she graduated in 2022.
