PULASKI COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) — Pulaski County officials are encouraging residents and businesses to welcome two visiting groups expected to travel through the area this week.

The annual Hot Rod Power Tour is scheduled to pass through Pulaski County on Thursday, June 11, as part of a weeklong journey celebrating the 100th anniversary of Route 66. Organizers describe the event as the world’s largest rolling automotive festival.

Participants will travel from the St. Louis area to Springfield, Missouri, with a planned stop in Rolla from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. After leaving Rolla, drivers are expected to enter Pulaski County from Interstate 44 at Exit 163 and travel along Route 66 before rejoining I-44 at Exit 156 on their way to Springfield.

Thousands of vehicles are expected to participate. Officials are asking motorists to be patient, noting some classic vehicles may travel at slower speeds than normal traffic.

The group also plans to visit local museums, Uranus and Neon Park before checking into a hotel for the evening. The tour is scheduled to depart June 13.
