POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (KBSI) — Three Rivers College will conduct an active shooter training exercise Wednesday at its Poplar Bluff campus.
The training will be held in partnership with the college, local law enforcement agencies, emergency medical services, the Poplar Bluff Fire Department and Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
People near the campus should expect to see law enforcement officers, emergency vehicles and a helicopter as part of the exercise. College officials emphasized the event is a planned training exercise and that there is no danger to the public.
“Multi-agency training is the best way to prepare the College and our community for high-risk situations,” Three Rivers Chief of Staff Chuck Stratton said. “Three Rivers has held similar drills in the past as a way to help prepare our community for all emergencies.”
The exercise is being coordinated by Tami Cunningham, the college’s director of emergency medical services and fire science, and Stratton.
Members of the media are invited to attend but are asked not to interfere with the training and to contact the college’s communications department before arriving.
