Two killed, four injured in head-on crash in Livingston County

LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — Two people were killed and four others were injured in a head-on crash Tuesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 60 West in Livingston County, according to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the crash occurred at approximately 2:20 p.m. June 23 in the 1400 block of U.S. Highway 60 West.

A preliminary investigation found that Lindsey Trail, 28, of Ledbetter, was driving a 2022 Ford Explorer westbound when the SUV crossed the center line and collided head-on with an eastbound 2007 Mercury Milan driven by Timothy Buford, 61.

Buford was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 5-year-old boy riding in Trail’s vehicle was airlifted to an out-of-state hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Deputy Greg Moyers arrived within minutes of the crash and, with the help of bystanders, rescued children who were trapped inside the burning Ford Explorer, according to the sheriff’s office.

Trail, 35-year-old Preston Blake of Ledbetter, a 7-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl were all airlifted to out-of-state hospitals for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation by Deputy Zackary Dunigan.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Ledbetter Fire Department, Reidland-Farley Fire Department, Livingston County EMS, Mercy EMS, McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, Air Evac Lifeteam, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Bailey’s Wrecker Service and the Livingston County Coroner’s Office.
