LYON COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – One westbound lane of Interstate 24 is back open near the 41 mile marker after a semi fire in Lyon County.

Early reports indicate the brakes on the truck overheated and caused the truck to catch fire, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Due to damage to the trailer, it will have to be loaded onto another truck to be removed.

While westbound traffic is backed up at this site, having one lane open has reduced the need for a detour.

Estimated duration for one-lane traffic on I-24 at this site is now 6 hours or approximately 7:30 p.m.
