Storm Chances Continue Thursday, Through the Weekend

Daily chances of afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue through the weekend. More organized storms will be possible Thursday evening into early Friday morning for the viewing area. A Slight Risk (Level 2 out of 5) of severe weather is in place, particularly for areas north of Cape Girardeau and Paducah.

All severe weather hazards will be on the table in the strongest storms moving through the area late on Thursday evening. This includes an isolated tornado or two, quarter-sized hail, and wind gusts up to 75 miles per hour.

The potential for localized flooding increases on Thursday and will continue into the weekend. A Flood Watch is in place until early Sunday morning, as isolated rainfall totals could reach upwards of three inches after several rounds of precipitation.
