Warming through the holiday weekend
September is a month we normally see a greater shift towards comfortable weather. Normal highs for the end of the month are in the upper 70s, with low 50s for an average overnight low. The sun will continue setting earlier, with sunsets before 7:00 p.m. by the time we close out September.
But we’re above normal through Labor Day weekend. Highs will continue to climb with a southerly breeze on Sunday, nearing 90° for most.
With a lot of moisture to the air above us, we’ll see some cloud cover to each day going forward.
Monday will have a similar feel, with a better chance to reach 90° as we warm bit by bit over the next couple of days.
Through early September, we will have high humidity compared to normal for this time of year into next week. By Labor Day, rain chances return across mainly southeast Missouri. Then Tuesday through Thursday, rain chances spread across our entire area.
After a quiet period for some time, we’ll be turning to a new week with more chances to see moisture fall in the form of rain, rather than beads of sweat from the humidity. One of the warmest days appears to be Labor Day, with temperatures nearing the lower 90s by the afternoon under partly cloudy skies.
