Escapee arrested in Paducah, charged with meth trafficking

PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) – A wanted man who walked away from a Paducah correctional complex in January was arrested Wednesday.

Robert W. Grundy, 52, of Almo faces charges of trafficking in methamphetamine 2nd or subsequent offense, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance- Suboxone. He had a warrant of parole absconder out of Marshall County.

Drug detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office saw 52-year-old Robert Grundy at a home near the intersection of 28th and Cornell Streets in Paducah on Wednesday, Jun 14.

Detectives knew that Grundy had numerous outstanding warrants for his arrest including a warrant for walking away from the Keeton Correctional Complex in Paducah in January.

Grundy got into a vehicle and tried to leave the home, but was taken into custody, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives found a bag of crystal methamphetamine when they search him, according to the sheriff’s office.

Detectives found an additional 18 bags of methamphetamine, Suboxone, a drug ledger (that contained numerous names and dollar amounts), and cash believed to be proceeds of illegal drug sales in Grundy’s vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.

A total of 631 grams of methamphetamine was seized.

Grundy was out on parole from prison stemming from an unrelated 2020 conviction out of Marshall County, Ky. for trafficking methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine.

He has an extensive criminal history dating back to as early as 1995 and numerous prior convictions for trafficking methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a methamphetamine precursor, promoting contraband, fleeing or evading police, persistent felony offender, and numerous other criminal convictions.

Grundy was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
