Woman facing 6 counts of animal abuse after dead dogs found in recently sold home

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – A woman faces animal abuse charges after selling her home and the new homeowner finding several dead animals inside.
Diane Lynn Pair is charged with six counts of animal abuse.
Authorities responded to a report of dead animals found in a home on November 3.
A man recently purchased a home. Another man who had a job offer to clean the home went to the home with the soon-to-be home owner. When they arrived, the garage door was half open and they could see inside the home.
They saw numerous kennels containing dead animals. However, because the new homeowner had not signed the deed for the property, he could not consent to letting police on the property.
On November 8, the man called police and said the deed had been signed and he wished for authorities to respond to the home.
Officers responded and found a chicken coop containing the skeletal remains of what appeared to be two chickens.
In the living room, they found what appeared to be the remains of two dogs in a kennel. On top of that kennel was what looked like the remains of the small dog.
In the kitchen, they found another kennel with the remains of a small dog and a chicken coop with the remains of an unknown number of chickens.
The new homeowner told police he recently purchased the home from an auction.
The previous homeowner’s vehicle was parked in front of the home.
Pair told authorities sent moved from the home in October and that she was only aware of one dead dog, according to the probable cause statement.
She told authorities she had been living in the home with the dead animals, according to the court document.
Authorities arrested her and took her to the Cape Girardeau County Jail.
