Small businesses are preparing for the weekend

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI)- It’s Black Friday, coming up on Shop Small Saturday, and people are coming to the downtown area to prepare for Christmas.
“If you put your money into your local shops then it’s going to put money into your local community.” Katessa Dame is the manager of Belle Ever After Boutique, she is getting into the spirit of the Black Friday shopping experience, preparing for Shop Small Saturday.
She says, “Our small businesses are what is behind our community, we are giving to school events, fundraisers, all the kids that come in here and ask for donations, and that really helps us when you guys come out and support us and we can come back and give you guys support as well.”
With investing from your support some shops even a token of appreciation to their customers.
When you shop locally, local businesses reinvest profits at the local level, including events or sponsoring teams in the community. which helps the local merchants thrive a bit more.
Local merchant, Elizabeth Gibbs who owns the Better Day Studio on Broadway says her shop helps support businesswomen and local talent, “It’s important to know that all of our small businesses are mostly run by just us and that’s awesome it’s not going to look the same as a big box store.”
Shop Small Saturday begins November 25th and the best gift you can give local businesses is your support.
