School closings for Tuesday, Jan. 16

(KBSI) – Several schools have already canceled classes for Tuesday, January 16 due to winter weather conditions.

This is not a complete listing of school closures. Check with your child’s school to verify if the school is open or closed on Jan. 16.

Missouri

  • Advance R-4 Schools
  • Bell City R-11 Schools
  • Bernie R-13 Schools (The district will utilize an AMI day. Students will receive work through electronic communications from their teachers and are required to participate. For students in younger grades, teachers sent work packets home in case of inclement weather.)
  • Cape Girardeau Schools had already canceled classes on Monday, January 15 for MLK Jr. Day and Tuesday, January 16 for a Professional Development Day.

    • All students please log in to Google Classroom to see your assignments.
      Your teachers will be available through e-mail if you have any questions.
      Also, sack lunches will be available for all Unit # 2 students from 11:00 am until noon.
      Please use the west doors at the Marion Jr. High.
  • Massac Unit School District #1
  • Southern Illinois University Carbondale (Due to the conditions caused by the winter storm, SIU Carbondale will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 16. This is an administrative closure. All classes (face-to-face, hybrid, and online) will be canceled and will not be delivered remotely. At this time, the university is scheduled to reopen at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17.)
  • Southern 7 Health Department and Head Start sites
  • Trinity Christian School – Carbondale
  • Unity Point 140 – Due to dangerous weather conditions, Tuesday, January 16 will be an E-Learning Day for all Unity Point students.
  • Westwood Baptist Academy (Poplar Bluff)

Kentucky

  • Ballard County Schools
  • Graves County Schools – This will be NTI Day 1.
  • Hickman County Schools – No NTI work required.
  • Lyon County Schools – This will be a NTI day.
  • Marshall County Schools
  • McCracken County Schools
  • Murray State University (All classes will be conducted remotely in a manner the faculty member chooses at the regularly scheduled times for the entire day.)

Tennessee

  • Dyersburg State Community College
  • Lake County Schools
  • Obion County Schools
  • Union City Schools
  • University of Tennessee at Martin – main campus and five centers at Jackson, Parsons, McNairy County/Selmber, Ripley and Somerville will be closed
