Sales tax increase in Scott County on April 2nd ballot

SCOTT COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI)- County Commissioners are expressing concerns about the Scott County courthouse.
They say the building is crumbling with water damage, old windows that don’t open and pieces of bricks cracking and falling.
A sales tax increase has been added to the April 2nd ballot in Scott County.
The county is in need of road work, and reconstructed bridges.
Tetley adds, “That would allow us to give the sheriff that two and a half million, and it would free up two and a half million in our general revenue budget to be able to free up some of the other things we need to do in the county.”
According to Tetley if the tax is not passed, the courthouse could end up in the same situation that the 130-year-old Bollinger County courthouse faces, being deemed unsafe by engineers and offices having to relocate.
