Sheriff’s deputies, firefighters save 6 people from fire in Gordonville

GORDONVILLE, Mo. (KBSI) – Sheriff’s deputies and firefighters helped save six people from a house fire early Tuesday morning in Gordonville.
Actions by the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff deputies and the reporting party, potentially were the life saving actions that got the six occupants out alive early this morning.
Early Tuesday, February 20 at 2:24 a.m. the Gordonville Fire Protection District firefighters and mutual aid from Jackson Fire Rescue, Cape Girardeau Fire Department, Fruitland Area Fire Protection District and East County Fire Protection District were dispatched to Star Drive for a first alarm residential fire with active fire on the front deck area of a trailer.
Cape Girardeau Sheriff deputies arrived on scene first and reported the front porch of a trailer on fire with the fire close to spreading to the home.
The first deputy met with a neighbor who noticed the fire, called 911, and then ran up onto the burning deck to alert the residents.
The deputy continued to gather information.
The second deputy went onto the burning deck, entered the home, closed the door behind him to protect the conditions inside found three more people and escorted them out the back door.
Actions by the deputies and the reporting party help save the six people.
The fire grew and spread to the trailer in just 10 mins after the 911 call.
Fire units arrived on scene and reported it was 25 percent involved.
Gordonville pumper/tanker 3611 arrived on scene and Chief 1 operated the deck gun to quickly knock down the fire to keep it from spreading any further.
Jackson Fire Rescue and a Gordonville crews handled primary and secondary searches as well as putting out the rest of the fire and overhaul.
Fruitland handled exterior fire control as well as being assigned Rapid Intervention Crew (RIC).
Cape Girardeau firefighters handled utilities and Chief 1 assisted 3610 with command.
Response from East County Fire Protection District was canceled.
The Gordonville units on scene 3610, 3611, 3615, 3631, 3634.
No injuries were reported from the fire crews or the six people (four adults and two children).
However the structure was a loss.
The people in the home were able to save some of their items.
The cause of the fire is undetermined after investigation.
All units cleared the scene and returned to service at 4:06 a.m.
