1 facing drug charges in Williamson County afer months-long investigation

CARTERVILLE, Ill. (KBSI) – A Matteson, Ill. man faces drug charges after Williamson County sheriff’s deputies conducted a months-long investigation.
Antoine D. Winston faces charges of delivery of controlled substance (crack cocaine), possession of controlled substance (crack cocaine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Deputies conducting surveillance on a home in the 900 block of Glenn Avenue in Carterville saw Antoine D. Winston of Matteson, Ill. leave the home and depart in a pickup truck at 1:35 p.m. on March 5.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the truck. Winston, a known resident of the Glenn Avenue home, was detained.
Deputies developed sufficient probable cause that crack cocaine was being distributed from the home as part of an ongoing investigation spanning several months.
Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant on the home at 2:14 p.m.
Deputies searched the home and found packaged crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, digital scales, packaging materials, and other supplies commonly used in the packaging and distribution of illegal drugs, according to investigators.
Deputies seized $3,479 in US Currency believed to be proceeds from the sale of illegal drugs.
The homeowner said that Winston is her “godson” but when questioned was unable to provide his real name.
At 5:45 p.m., Winston was interviewed and investigators admitted to using and selling crack cocaine as well as previous involvement in the distribution of controlled substances.
Winston is believed to be a member of the Chicago street gang; “Gangster Disciples,” according to deputies.
Deputies got information that Winston has sold crack cocaine from Glenn Avenue at well as 102 Kennedy Street in Colp.
This is the location of a January 26 search warrant by Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies which found six firearms, 60.1 grams of crack cocaine, 71.03 grams of powder cocaine, 6.77 grams of methamphetamine, 7.65 grams of cannabis, drug packaging materials, multiple digital scales, and $2,335.12 in US currency.
Victor X. Hurd and LaShawn Walker were arrested. Both identified themselves as members of the Chicago street gang; “Gangster Disciples”.
“Organized criminal enterprises who view Williamson County as a viable opportunity to distribute illegal drugs are on notice,” said Williamson County Sheriff Jeff Diederich.
Winston was taken to the Williamson County Jail where he was served with Notice of Seizure for Forfeiture in reference to the US currency that was seized.
