2 arrested after deputies find drugs during traffic stop

CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – Two people face charges after Calloway County sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop.

Amanda R. Cope, 45, faces charges of trafficking methamphetamine 2nd offense (Class B felony), possession of Fentanyl (Class D felony), possession of Suboxone and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Lora L. Carroll, 50, of Marshall County faces a charge of operating on suspended or revoked license.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 641 north around 1:30 p.m. on August 15.

Detectives with the Calloway County Narcotics Division responded and with the aid of Marshall County Sheriff’s Office K-9 “Drax”, determined that the passenger in the vehicle, Amanda R. Cope, was found to be in possession illicit drugs, some consistent with trafficking.

Detectives found 58.0 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a quantity of Fentanyl pills, Suboxone and several other drug paraphernalia related items.

Cope was on probation from when she pleaded guilty to trafficking methamphetamine 2nd offense in 2019.

The driver of the vehicle, Lora L. Carroll, was found to have a suspended operator’s license and is legally prohibited from driving a motor vehicle on the road.

Cope and Carroll were taken to the Calloway County Detention Center.
