SCOTT COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI)- A devastating field fire has swept through a 22-acre area on Highway 61, between County Road 428 and MO 91, prompting a massive response from emergency services.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department, Scott County Fire, and other agencies are on scene battling the blaze, which has damaged two structures and burned approximately 80 acres of land.

Due to low visibility caused by thick smoke, the roadway between County Road 428 and MO 91 was blocked for an extended period, causing significant disruptions to traffic.

Fortunately, the fire has been brought under control, and the roadway has since reopened. Sargeant Clark Parrott with Missouri State Highway Patrol says, State Highway Patrol has cleared the scene.

No further updates are expected at this time.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of wildfires and the importance of vigilance in preventing such disasters.
