River Counties Task Force arrests 5, seizes methamphetamine in inaugural operation

CARLISLE COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) – A new task force has been established to combat drug trafficking and violent crimes in Ballard, Carlisle, and Hickman counties. The River Counties Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force is comprised of 10 deputies from the Ballard County Sheriff’s Office, Carlisle County Sheriff’s Office, and Hickman County Sheriff’s Office, who possess multi-jurisdictional law enforcement powers.

The task force aims to disrupt the trafficking of illegal drugs, narcotics, and other controlled substances, as well as combat violent crimes and weapons-related offenses. Its primary objective is to provide assistance to each county in combating these crimes in a cost-effective manner.

In its first operation, the task force intercepted over 2 pounds of methamphetamine and arrested five individuals. The investigation revealed that an individual had been traveling to Louisville, Ky., to purchase large quantities of methamphetamine and supplying it to numerous individuals across the three counties.

Those arrested include:

– Charles “Brad” Copeland, Cunningham, Ky., trafficking in controlled substance 1st degree
– Jason Drake, Cunningham, Ky., possession of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, trafficking in controlled substance 1st degree
– Charles “Chuckie” Arrington, Arlington, Ky., trafficking in controlled substance 1st degree, possession of marijuana
– Jeremy Tynes, Mayfield, Ky., conspiracy to trafficking in controlled substance 1st offense
– Jeremiah Williams, Milburn, Ky., trafficking in controlled substance 1st degree

The task force will also serve as a liaison for individuals struggling with addiction, connecting them with resources for recovery programs and classes.
