Carbondale police seek suspect in robbery investigation

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — Carbondale police are seeking information about a robbery that occurred April 17 in the 300 block of South Illinois Avenue.
At 12:23 a.m., officers responded to a report of a robbery. The victim, who was outside a business, was approached by two white males. An argument ensued, and one suspect, identified as Justin M. Cemail, 35, of Chicago, took the victim’s electric scooter and brandished a knife when the victim tried to retrieve it.
The second suspect attempted to take some of the victim’s property but was unsuccessful. The victim fled and did not report any injuries.
Cemail has been charged with aggravated vehicular hijacking, and a Jackson County warrant has been issued for his arrest. He is described as a white male, 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 170 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
The identity of the second suspect is unknown.
