SIU Carbondale earns ‘Military Friendly School’ designation
CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — Southern Illinois University Carbondale has been designated a “2025-2026 Military Friendly School” by VIQTORY, a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business.
The university, along with its online and extended campus locations in Florida and California, received the designation based on its commitment to providing educational opportunities to military veterans, active-duty personnel and their families.
SIU Carbondale has consistently ranked high in military-friendly designations, including being named third among colleges and universities in the Midwest and first in Illinois by Military Times magazine.
The university serves around 542 active-duty personnel, veterans and military family members, and offers tailored support services, flexible learning options and a welcoming community to help them achieve their academic and career goals.
“We attract and retain military and veteran students and their family members because we offer degree programs that meet their needs, and we provide support to help them achieve their academic goals,” said Paul S. Copeland, Veterans Services coordinator.
