President Trump approves disaster declarations for Missouri

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., (KBSI) — Gov. Mike Kehoe announced Tuesday that President Donald Trump has approved two additional major disaster declarations for Missouri, providing federal aid to residents affected by severe storms, tornadoes and flooding on April 29 and May 16.

“We are grateful for President Trump’s swift action in getting vital federal assistance to thousands of Missourians impacted by the severe weather,” Kehoe said. “We urge all eligible residents to apply now, as the faster you apply, the faster you’ll receive assistance.”

Individual Assistance Programs

Individual Assistance is available to eligible residents in the City of St. Louis, and St. Louis and Scott counties impacted by the May 16 storms. This assistance includes:

Temporary Housing: Federal aid for temporary housing and housing repairs
Housing Repairs: Funding for housing repairs and replacement of damaged items
Disaster Grants: Assistance for other serious disaster-related needs and expenses
Low-Interest Disaster Loans: Loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for homeowners, renters, and businesses

Residents can apply for FEMA disaster assistance online at Home | disasterassistance.gov, by calling FEMA’s toll-free registration line at 1-800-621-3362, or by downloading the FEMA app.

Public Assistance Programs

Public Assistance is available to local governments and qualifying nonprofits in the following areas:

April 29 Storms: Barry, Greene, Lawrence, McDonald, Newton, and Washington counties
May 16 Storms: City of St. Louis, and St. Louis and Scott counties

This assistance includes reimbursement for emergency response costs, debris removal, and repair of damaged roads, bridges, and public infrastructure.
