Marion police arrest three in multi-drug distribution investigation

MARION, Ill., (KBSI) — The Marion Police Department’s Narcotics Unit has announced multiple arrests following a months-long investigation into the distribution of methamphetamine, fentanyl and cocaine within the city.

Authorities said detectives identified a drug distribution network operating in Marion and determined several individuals were allegedly working with the primary target of the investigation, Ricky L. Ryder.

On Feb. 24, officers conducted a traffic stop near North Glendale Street and East Finucane Street. Laura J. Hardesty, 50, was charged with possession of 100 to 400 grams of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, possession of fentanyl and possession of a controlled substance.

Jeannette L. Hall, 54, was charged with possession of 100 to 400 grams of methamphetamine with intent to deliver.

On Feb. 25, officers executed a search warrant in the 100 block of East Finucane Street with assistance from the department’s Emergency Response Team. Ryder, 70, was charged with methamphetamine trafficking, conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and unlawful possession of firearm ammunition.

Police said detectives recovered a firearm and ammunition, a significant amount of U.S. currency, and assorted narcotics and drug paraphernalia during the search.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are possible, authorities said.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
