Local Leaders Recognized at Cape Chamber’s Annual Awards Dinner

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) — Business leaders, public officials and community members gathered Friday night for the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual dinner, an event focused on recognizing contributions to the region and highlighting local economic growth.
Held at the Show Me Center, the event included the presentation of several awards honoring leadership, service and innovation across Southeast Missouri.
Former Missouri Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder was recognized for his long-standing public service and support of the region’s business community. A posthumous award also honored Hilary Schmittzehe, founder of VIP Industries, for his work creating opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Busch Pet Products was named Small Business of the Year, with recognition for both its growth and community involvement. Jared Ritter, a local real estate broker and business owner, received Young Professional of the Year for his leadership and involvement in education initiatives.
Raechel Cantoni was honored as Ambassador of the Year for her efforts to grow chamber membership and stay actively involved in community events.
The chamber also recognized several businesses for long-term membership milestones, including companies that have been part of the organization for decades.
The evening concluded with a transition in leadership, as a new board chair stepped into the role with a focus on continued engagement and support for local businesses.
The Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce represents businesses throughout the region and works to promote economic development and improve quality of life in Southeast Missouri.
