Carbondale to Host Final ‘At the Table’ Dialogue Focused on Freedom and Juneteenth

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — The City of Carbondale will commemorate Juneteenth and reflect on 250 years of U.S. independence during the final Carbondale “At the Table” Dinner & Dialogue event on June 2 at the Carbondale Civic Center.
The theme for the event, “America at 250: The Journey to Freedom,” will invite community members to reflect on the meaning of freedom throughout American history as the nation approaches the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Organizers said participants will discuss the progress made toward liberty and equality, as well as the challenges that remain since Juneteenth.
The Carbondale “At the Table” Dinner & Dialogue Series features facilitated conversations on culture, history and racial healing while attendees share a meal provided by Cristaudo’s Café & Bakery. The series is designed to encourage dialogue among community members from diverse backgrounds.
The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 5 p.m., with the program beginning at 5:30 p.m. Seating is limited, and registration is encouraged.
