MARION, Ill. (KBSI) — A Marion man faces multiple felony charges after police said he caused a disturbance at a local Kentucky Fried Chicken and later fought with officers while attempting to flee.
According to the Marion Police Department, officers responded around 1:09 p.m. May 16 to the KFC on DeYoung Street after reports of a man yelling and throwing objects at employees.
Police said officers recognized 39-year-old Julian L. McMillen from previous contacts and observed him pacing in the parking lot while officers attempted to question him about the incident.
Investigators said McMillen ignored commands to stop and walked back toward the restaurant entrance before running across DeYoung Street as officers attempted to detain him.
According to police, an officer caught up with McMillen near the Gray Plaza Motel, where he allegedly resisted arrest and attempted to strike the officer with a closed fist. Additional officers responded to assist, and police said a Taser was used to take McMillen into custody.
After interviewing witnesses and victims inside the restaurant, police charged McMillen with aggravated battery to a police officer causing injury, criminal damage to property over $500, resisting with injury, disorderly conduct and aggravated battery in a public place.
McMillen was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
