Missouri launches new site for reporting suspicious activity

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., (KBSI) — The Missouri Department of Public Safety and Missouri State Highway Patrol have launched a new website for the public to report suspicious activity across the state.
The new platform, called Show-Me Shield, replaces the Missouri SafeNation app and allows people to submit suspicious activity reports online.
The program is based on the national “See Something, Say Something” initiative and is intended for reports of potentially suspicious behavior, including unusual items or situations and attempts to gather information about a building’s operations, security procedures, personnel or shift changes.
Officials said some reported activity may be innocent and law enforcement will determine whether additional investigation is warranted.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol also announced changes to its Courage2Report school violence and anti-bullying reporting system.
Tips can continue to be submitted through the Courage2Report website or by calling 1-866-748-7047. Reports are handled by trained professionals 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The Courage2Report and SafeNation mobile apps have been deactivated and are no longer being monitored.
Courage2Report allows confidential reporting of concerns involving school violence and works with Missouri public and private schools serving students from prekindergarten through 12th grade.
