Graves County declares state of emergency ahead of severe weather

GRAVES COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — Graves County has declared a state of emergency as severe weather threatens the area with strong winds, falling trees, flooding and possible power outages.
Graves County Judge-Executive Jesse Perry issued the declaration Aug. 19, citing forecasts for severe weather that could create dangerous road conditions and other hazards.
Under the declaration, the county’s emergency operations plan will be fully activated. Graves County Emergency Management will coordinate emergency service agencies and local government resources during the response.
All county agencies have been directed to cooperate with emergency management and provide assistance as needed.
The declaration also allows the county to waive certain procedures and requirements related to public work, contracts, workers, equipment rentals and the expenditure of public funds during the emergency.
The declaration remains in effect as Graves County responds to the severe weather event.
