Fugitive wanted in Indiana attempted murder case arrested during Paducah drug investigation

PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) — A man wanted in connection with an attempted murder investigation in Indiana was arrested Thursday during a drug investigation in Paducah, according to the Paducah Police Department.
The department’s Drug Unit said detectives were investigating reports that forged prescriptions were being used to obtain promethazine from local pharmacies. While conducting surveillance at a pharmacy on July 9, detectives observed 22-year-old Kameron Townsley of Indiana allegedly attempting to fill a forged prescription and arrested him without incident.
During the investigation, detectives learned Townsley was wanted in connection with an attempted murder investigation involving a 2020 shooting in the parking lot of a Walmart in Paoli, Indiana.
Police also determined Townsley was wanted on two outstanding Kentucky felony warrants charging him with first-degree burglary, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, wanton endangerment, tampering with physical evidence, second-degree escape, tampering with a prisoner monitoring device and theft.
In connection with the Paducah investigation, Townsley was charged with:
* Forgery of a prescription.
* Second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
* Giving an officer false identifying information.
Townsley was lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail.
