Lindsay Clancy case sparks conservation around postpartum awareness

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The Lindsay Clancy case has sparked conversation around postpartum depression and psychosis for mothers everywhere and local providers say that resources and help is available. 

According to a blog released by licensed mental health professional Andrea Crafton with Bloom Perinatal Therapy an estimated 1-2 women per every one thousand births experience postpartum psychosis, symptoms most commonly begin in the first two weeks after birth, and key risk factors are those with a history of bipolar disorder, postpartum psychosis after previous pregnancy’s, and severe sleep deprivation and can look like paranoia, confusion, hallucinations, mood changes and more, where postpartum depression is much more common and shows symptoms of sadness, hopelessness, guilt and more.
