University of Mississippi confirms deaths of 2 students, warns against speculation

OXFORD, Miss., (KBSI) — The University of Mississippi is mourning the recent deaths of two students.

The university said the coroner’s office has confirmed two student deaths. University Police are not aware of any additional student deaths.

The university said there is considerable unverified information circulating on social media and in the community about the deaths.

University Police remain in contact with local and state law enforcement. The causes of both deaths remain under investigation.

University officials are asking the community not to speculate about the circumstances surrounding the deaths or repeat information that has not been officially confirmed.

“The University is heartbroken by the recent loss of two students and extends our condolences to their families, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time,” the university said.
