Rain, then snow, then really cold (12/21/22)
There is a Winter Weather Advisory and a Winter Storm Warning in place for our area. This goes into place on Thursday as a strong cold front brings with it snow, cold, and wind.
The snowfall will start up Thursday afternoon, fall very quickly, and then be done by Thursday night. 1-3″ of accumulating snow will be possible.
Rain will be falling on and off in the morning, then it changes over to snow by the afternoon.
Then, it gets cold. Because of the excessive wind and cold, a rare Wind Chill Warning is in place for our entire viewing area Thursday through Saturday. The wind chill will approach 30 degrees below zero at times.
Temperatures will be fairly mild the first half of the day, but when the cold move through, it’s going to get very cold very fast. We go from 41 at 11am to 8 degrees by 7pm.
Factor in a gusty northwest wind at 20 to 30 mph and the wind chill will feel like teens below zero for all of Thursday night into Friday morning.
After a few days of very cold temperatures, we start to climb out of the cold and start to see the 30s for highs next week.
