Election officials tally votes after General Municipal Election in MO
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Tuesday night election officials tallied the votes after voters cast their ballots on election day on April 4.
Joshua Wiseman is the election supervisor for Cape Girardeau County, he says this election was about local issues.
“From your school board to your ward district, water district you name it, these are the people that are affecting our lives on a daily basis, on a more local scale.”
Voting polls opened at 6 a.m. and closed at 7 p.m.
“The law changed in November, where you have to have a photo ID now to vote but if you do not have a photo ID on election day, you can vote a provisional ballot,” said Cape Girardeau County Clerk Kara Clark Summers.
For future reference, Clark says if you do not have a voter ID they can give you a provisional ballot to verify your signature.
“Voter turnout is pretty low, we would love to see that 50 to 60 range, so if you can come vote, go vote,” said Wiseman.
Keep in mind, anyone from the age of eighteen can vote, you simply need an acceptable form of voter ID.
