Juveniles reported shooting citizens with Air Soft pistols

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI)- A new trend is causing issues for police.

Bobby Newton, the Police Information Officer with the Cape Girardeau Police Department says, “They can be purchased at any store in cape really. They look a lot like the real guns.”

Air soft pistols that anyone can own, meaning young adults are using them.

“We’ve had a report of some juveniles, driving around, firing these air soft pistols at other citizens within the community.”

This kind of action can be deadly, due to the likeness to a real gun.

Officer Newton encourages young adults to stay within the boundaries of their property with these pistols, “They can be used around your house, that’s fine, or at a range that’s fine.”

Even though they may be fake, the guns can be mistaken for the real thing and result in tragedy.
