Sprinkler system helps control fire at Schaefer Electrical

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo (KBSI) – On December 6, 2023, a report of flames showing from Schaefer Electrical industrial area sent alerts to the Cape Girardeau Fire Department.

Fire Chief Randy Morris says, several alarms were activated, and the company’s sprinkle system activated.

Mutual aid was brought to the fire, and Chief Morris says crews had to work their way around mechanical gear in the area, but that the sprinkler system helped in maintaining the fire.

“Sprinklers save buildings,” said Chief Morris. “I’m a big advocate for fire sprinklers. This is a perfect example of what could have been and was not, because of what the sprinkler’s did to save the building.”
