2 adults, 1 juvenile face drug, weapons charges in Stoddard County

STODDARD COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – Two adults and one juvenile face weapons and drug charges after a traffic stop in Stoddard County.
Stoddard County Sheriff Carl Hefner reports that on January 17 sheriff’s deputies assisted the Missouri State Highway Patrol with a traffic stop which originated on U.S. Highway 60 near Essex on January 17.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol initiated a traffic stop, but the driver of the vehicle did not yield, according to Sheriff Hefner.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol requested assistance from the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Office.
When the driver did stop, two men and two juveniles got out of the vehicle. After a short foot chase all four people were found.
About 11 pounds of methamphetamine and three firearms were found, according to Sheriff Hefner.
The two adults were arrested and taken to the Stoddard County Jail.
One of the juveniles had previously been certified as an adult on another case on which he was on probation for. He was also arrested and taken to the Stoddard County Jail.
The remaining juvenile was detained by juvenile authorities and taken to the Stoddard County Detention Center.
The two adults and one certified juvenile were identified and charged as follows:
Korey Linell Johnson Jr., 21, and Kortavion U. Johnson, 20, of Hayti face charges of trafficking drugs or attempt 1st degree Class A felony, possession of controlled substance Class D felony, unlawful use of a weapon (possession of weapon and felony-controlled substance) Class E felony, unlawful use of a weapon (possession of weapon and felony controlled substance) Class E felony, unlawful use of a weapon (possession of weapon and felony controlled substance) Class E felony and resisting/interfering with arrest Class E felony.
Cortez Mitchell Lewis, 17, of Hayti faces charges of trafficking drugs or attempt 1st degree Class A felony, unlawful possession of a firearm (dangerous felon) Class C felony, unlawful use of a weapon (possession of weapon and felony controlled substance) Class E felony, unlawful use of a weapon (possession of weapon and felony controlled substance) Class E felony, unlawful use of a weapon (possession of weapon and felony controlled substance) Class E felony and resisting/interfering with arrest, Class E felony.
All three were taken to the Stoddard County Jail on no bond warrants.
