Man facing drug charges after traffic stop in Calloway County

CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – A man faces drug charges in Calloway County after a traffic stop.

Joseph W. Morgan, 41, of Bowling Green, Ky faces charges of trafficking in controlled substance 1st degree, 1st offense greater or equal to 2 grams methamphetamine, tampering with physical evidence and drug paraphernalia, buy/possess.

Calloway County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of North 12th St and Huck’s gas station for traffic violations on January 29.

During the traffic stop deputies searched the vehicle and found approximately 532g (1.17 pounds) of crystal methamphetamine, suspected MDMA (Ecstasy), digital scales and other items indicative of narcotics trafficking, according to the deputies with the sheriff’s office.

A person in the vehicle, Joseph W. Morgan, was seen trying to destroy or hide methamphetamine when getting out of the vehicle.

Records indicate Morgan has a criminal history involving illegal drugs and tampering with physical evidence.

He was out on bond from a recent arrest in McCracken County for possession of a controlled substance 1st degree, 2nd offense (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of handgun by a convicted felon.

Morgan was arrested and taken to the Calloway County Detention Center.
