Man arrested after seen throwing drugs out vehicle window during traffic stop

BENTON, Ky. (KBSI) – A Benton, Ky. man faces several drug charges after a traffic stop Saturday afternoon.

James F. Shock, 35  faces numerous traffic violations and charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, possession of controlled substance 2nd degree (anabolic steroid), tampering with physical evidence (Class D felony), possession of methamphetamine (Class D felony) and trafficking Fentanyl 2nd offense (Class B felony).

The Calloway County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Marshall County man on drug charges following a traffic stop on Saturday afternoon.

Calloway County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle for numerous traffic violations on US Hwy. 641 North near Radio Road on Saturday, February 17 at 4:45 p.m.

Shock was identified as the driver. Deputies say they could see him throwing illegal drugs out of the driver side window while trying to pull over.

While doing this, Shock nearly crashed with several vehicles that were traveling close by.

He eventually pulled over. Deputies say they found the illegal items Shock tossed from the vehicle which led to the seizure of more than 80 Fentanyl-laced pills.

Deputies seached the vehicle and say they found a quantity of Fentanyl, methamphetamine, marijuana, anabolic steroids, $751 in cash believed to be proceeds of illegal drug trafficking and several items related to drug paraphernalia.

Shock has an extensive criminal history involving trafficking methamphetamine along with numerous convictions for other felony related charges.

He was released from jail less than a month ago on supervised probation for methamphetamine trafficking charges in Livingston County and felony burglary charges in Marshall County.

Shock was arrested and taken to the Calloway County Detention Center.
