Kids Day at the Missouri Veterans Memorial Wall this Saturday

PERRYVILLE, Mo. (KBSI) – Kids all across Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois will join together this Saturday at the Missouri veteran’s memorial wall. They’re going to learn more about the red poppy. It’s a symbol for Remembrance Day following World War I.
Executive Director Rae Lynn Munoz says each child will get to learn the importance of the poppy and get to make one to take home.
“So we would not be the society or the nation that we are today without the heroes of yesterday, and this will give them a glimpse at the day of the life of a service member, during World War I,” said Munoz.
Kids day will also feature two trunks of World War I memorabilia donated from Jefferson City, along with a live doughboy, who will be in full military dress.
