MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – The westbound lanes of Interstate 24 at the 9 mile marker are back open after a multi-vehicle crash Wednesday.

McCracken County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 9.4 westbound mile marker of I-24 at 10:57 a.m. on July 31 for a non-injury, vehicle crash.

It happened immediately east of the Husbands Road Exit 11 interchange.

A semi was off the road on the Exit 11 entry ramp due to cars exiting downtown the ramp the wrong way.

Sheriff’s deputies say 2006 Envoy had pulled onto the right shoulder of I-24. The driver tried to re-enter the highway but sheriff’s deputies say the driver pulled into the path of a 2014 Ram 3500 truck, hauling an 18-foot-long trailer. The Ram was driven by Jared Huskey, 45, of Clarksville, Tennessee.

In an attempt to avoid striking the Envoy, Huskey slowed his vehicle, but was struck in the rear by a 2024 Volvo semi tractor trailer drivern by 25-year-old Shatora Baylor of Shreveport, Louisiana.

The tractor trailer and Ram pickup truck came to rest blocking both westbound lanes. The Envoy was not struck.

The westbound lanes of Interstate 24 were closed for nearly two hours for investigation and clean-up.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department was assisted on scene by Reidland Fire Department, McCracken County DES, Larry Stovesand’s Towing, Bailey’s Towing and Kentucky State Police.
