Contour Airlines to fly from Cape Girardeau to Chicago
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Coming this fall, some changes are being made at the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport.
Early in June the U.S. Department of Transportation received a service pattern change request from Contour Airlines. The request was to switch service from Nashville to Chicago O’Hare Airport.
The U.S. Department of Transportation approved the request on Tuesday, July 30.
Cape Girardeau Regional Airport Manager Katrina Amos says she is excited for the switch and thinks it will improve the growth of the airport.
“We’re super excited about that,” said Amos. “It’s something we’ve been working on for quite some time with Contour to see if we were ever going to be able to go back to Chicago. Nashville has been phenomenal, and we’ve really enjoyed the service. However, our higher passenger counts when we were flying in and out of Chicago. So that’s been our wishes since the very beginning.”
The last day to travel from Nashville at the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport will be September 31. Flights to O’Hare in Chicago will begin October 1.
