Winter Storm Brings Snowfall, Minimal Traffic Issues to Poplar Bluff

Poplar Bluff, Mo. (KBSI) — As winter weather continues to impact southeastern Missouri, officials in Poplar Bluff report steady snowfall but minimal road incidents.

Emergency management and severe weather response officials say most residents have stayed home, reducing traffic-related issues. “Fortunately, people have been staying home for the most part,” says Robbie Myers of Poplar Bluff Emergency Management. “Law enforcement has dealt with some stranded vehicles, but no major accidents have been reported.”

Craig Meador, with the Poplar Bluff Severe Weather Response Team, measured snowfall totals of about four to four-and-a-half inches in Poplar Bluff. “In Ripley County, I measured six inches, and a spotter in Carter County reported the same,” Meador says.

Despite the snowfall, primary highways in the region remain mostly clear. “Highways 67 and 60 are in relatively good shape, while some back roads still have slush,” Meador noted.

Officials continue to monitor conditions as the storm moves through the area.
