VIENNA, Ill., (KBSI) — A burn ban is now in effect for Johnson County because of dry weather and high fire danger, local fire departments announced Friday.
The ban prohibits all outdoor burning, including open flames, trash or debris burning, and agricultural burning. Officials said the order will remain in place until further notice and will be reassessed as conditions change.
“All residents and visitors are required to comply with this ban to protect the safety of our community and natural resources,” the departments said in a joint statement. Violators may be subject to fire department fees.
The burn ban is supported by the Buncombe, Cypress, Goreville and Vienna fire departments.
